Happy New Year and Happy 60th Birthday to US Ecology!
In 2012 US Ecology enters its 60th year of business. Sixty years of protecting people and the environment from hazardous and radioactive materials. While 2011 was another solid year for US Ecology, we are poised for continued growth and success in 2012.
Companies define success in different ways, but at US Ecology our success is rooted in protecting people and the environment. As I have said since being named CEO in 2010, protecting people (working safely) and protecting the environment (working compliantly) are the cornerstones of our business. We cannot succeed unless we keep people safe and rigorously comply with all environmental laws, regulations, and rules.
To that end, we are rolling out our 2012 incentive and bonus plans in the next few weeks. These compensation plans are designed to promote safe and compliant behavior on an ongoing basis and provide the necessary flexibility for each site to customize programs consistent with individual site priorities. If we focus on the right behavior we will see positive results. We will continue to have defined health & safety and environmental objectives throughout the company in 2012 that will be tied to compensation for key managers, supervisors and employees.
Our ability to achieve long term, sustainable shareholder value is directly tied to being committed protecting people from injury and securely, compliantly managing the hazardous and radioactive material that our customers entrust us to handle.
We will announce 2011 earnings and give our 2012 business outlook in mid-to-late February, but as we begin our 60th year of business operations, I wanted our investors, customers, regulators and employees to know our commitment to a safe and compliant workplace. It is what we do!
