Our over 3,800 highly-trained professionals have an average tenure of over 10 years, proving that our team is here to stay.

Living Our Virtues

Borrowing from Patrick Lencioni’s book, “The Ideal Team Player,” US Ecology has adopted the following three virtues to help guide our Team Members in the way we work. We live, hire and work by these virtues every day.

Humble

Our Team Members share credit, emphasize team over self and define success collectively rather than individually.

Hungry

Our Team Members are curious, challenge the status quo and are driven to be the best at what we do – are never satisfied and seek continuous improvement. We deliver our services with a sense of urgency while being committed to the highest standards of safety, compliance and operational excellence.

People Smart

Our Team Members know how to respectfully deal with others (individually and in group settings) in the most effective way and are adaptable to varying personalities - treating all Team Members, customers, citizens and other stakeholders with respect in a non-hostile and non-threatening way despite varying opinions, beliefs or titles.

Safety

Safety is emphasized as “Permission to Play” value within US Ecology.  We seek out potential employees that are passionate about safety and emphasize safety daily as part of every person’s job.  In 2018, US Ecology achieved an incident frequency of 0.25 incidents resulting in an employee losing time from work per 200,000 hours worked.

Inclusion

Many companies talk about diversity, but a company’s culture should also be inclusive. US Ecology is a place where each voice is heard. Our Team Members feel safe to participate, engage and freely share ideas and feedback. Our commitment to open communication and inclusion creates trust and partnership. It is a culture that is not only good for customers, but for all Team Members as we confidently progress through our careers at US Ecology.

Investing in Our Future

Driving a Culture of Engagement

Leaders at US Ecology care about the Team Members’ experiences and look to find avenues to continuously measure and improve on current practices. Through participation, annual surveys, town halls meetings and an open-door policy, Team Members influence and affect change in our policies, programs and practices. Our annual Speak Up Survey collects anonymous feedback that is used to influence executive perspective and decisions on what matters most to our people. This includes how US Ecology invests in benefit programs, leader effectiveness and overall employment experience.

Rewards of Work

US Ecology’s investment in benefits is a living example of our “One Team” Shared Value. By putting the focus on our Team Members’ unique personal and family needs, we offer a compelling package with choices including a no-cost option for medical and dental coverage, easier access to lower-cost medical care via telemedicine, work/life balance through paid time off that grows with tenure and paid parental leave.  98% of our Team Members are saving for retirement by participating in the Company-sponsored 401(k) Plan. US Ecology contributes $0.55 on each $1.00 up to 6% of a Team Member’s contribution.

Professional Development

Professional development is for every member of our team. It’s where invaluable skills are obtained, goals are achieved and learning meets leadership. It’s where knowledge, experience and values are fostered and passed on. Professional development is for everybody, regardless of position, tenure or location. We believe that learning is a lifelong pursuit, and we encourage all our Team Members to participate. Our tuition reimbursement program removes barriers to higher education by making the dream of a college degree achievable by paying up to $4,500 per year.
