The EPA is establishing the e-Manifest, a national system for tracking hazardous waste shipments electronically and it is anticipated to launch June 30, 2018. After this date, data from all RCRA hazardous waste shipments must be transferred to EPA’s e-Manifest system. US Ecology is committed to providing our customers with unequaled service excellence as we navigate through this new process.
US Ecology representatives have been involved in technical discussions with the EPA since the initial e-Manifest proposal in 2001. As EPA releases the specifications of their system, we will integrate our Customer Online Resource (COR) and our internal systems to meet EPA’s requirements for the e-Manifest.
The e-Manifest Act authorizes the EPA to implement an electronic manifest system with the costs to be recovered by the application of user fees. EPA will continue to allow paper manifests once the e-Manifest system launches. However, EPA and US Ecology strongly encourages the use of electronic manifests which will be the least expensive and easiest way to comply with the regulations. The Agency’s fees are expected to range between $4.00 and $20.00 per manifest based on how the e-Manifest data is transferred to EPA’s system. The Agency will invoice US Ecology for each manifest received, and that cost will be transferred to the customer. Currently, US Ecology is finalizing the programming necessary to minimize manifest fees.
The EPA is currently in test mode. Once the system is available, registration instructions will be provided. Stay tuned for how to request a log-in when EPA has completed their testing environment and is ready to go live: RCRA Info
